Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to do a maternity session?

As a general rule of thumb, a maternity portrait session is usually done between 28 and 36 weeks (7th or 8th month) of pregnancy. The belly will be nice and round but mum will still feel comfortable enough for a photo session. Any time before 28 week the bump will not be as prominent to show in photos, and after 36 weeks, the belly can begin to feel heavy and a photo session can be too exhausting at this stage.

Several factors may influence this time frame:

-If you are expecting multiples, I recommend doing maternity photos as early as 27-28 weeks.

-If you have any pregnancy issues

      -Your availability

Should I be concerned about stretch marks of feeling bigger than usual?

You may be feeling insecure about your body but these photos will be heirlooms for the generations to come.

Retouching skills are all complimentary, so if you have any stretch marks or blemishes that bother you, please just let me know.

What should I wear for my maternity shoot?

The main thing is to wear something that will accentuate your bump. Avoid busy patterns and logos.

I'll be more than happy to chat with you beforehand and offer some advice.

When is the best time to do a newborn session?

The best time for a newborn photography session is when they are under two weeks old. After two weeks, babies are slightly more difficult to settle and this makes posing a bit trickier. I set aside a very limited number of newborn sessions per month, so that that each client receives my personal attention. To secure your desired session time, please contact me as soon as you can. I add a tentative date around your due date onto my calendar upon booking. Once baby arrives, you can then contact me to schedule/ confirm your session.

How do I prepare for my newborn session?

Try to keep your newborn awake for an hour before your session begins and plan to feed your baby just before I arrive. If you are nursing, it is best have some expressed milk in a bottle to use during the session. Pacifiers are a newborn photographers best friend and are very helpful to keep your baby calm during the session.

A few days before your session date, I'll send you a whole list of tips to help the session go as smoothly and stress free as possible.

Do you deliver every image you shoot?

No, I will use my expertise and only the best images from the session will be chosen for editing. I will eliminate all duplicates, test shots, out of focus, bad expression or unflattering images.
